Q. If you could pick one character in a book, movie or television show to swap places with, who would it be?

My first choice would be Damali Richards of L.A. Banks' Vampire Huntress Legend.  She can kick butt, rock out and she's sexy!  Awesome combination!

I also love Temperence Brennan from Bones!  She is so awesomely geeky!

I also like the pre-succubus Anita Blake.  Once she turned into basically a sex slave, I lost all interest.

The "Fever" series by Karen Marie Moning is being made into a movie but hasn't been cast yet!  I can't wait to see who is on the screen but here are my choices:

Today's Question:

Q. If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? And, why?

I can't think of any book I would change.  There have been some that I wish hadn't ended or maybe gave us a little more backstory of some of the characters but all in all, I enjoy what I've read and wouldn't do anything different to the endings.

Q. In light of the Summer Solstice. Also known as Midsummer...let's talk about fairies. What is your favorite fairy tale or story that revolves around the fae?

Hands down, it's the "Fever" Series by Karen Marie Moning.  The fae in this story are so complex.  Their not necessarily good or evil, at least in their eyes.  I love the layers and of course, most of beautiful!

Q. Genre Wars! What's your favorite genre and which book in that genre made it your favorite?

My favorite is Urban Fantasy.  It was the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton that started me on this road.  I was hooked from the first chapter of "Guilty Pleasures"!  Even though I don't read the Anita Blake books any more, I still love urban fantasy!

Q. What are you doing to prepare for an upcoming zombie apocalypse and/or the return of Mel Gibson to the silver screen? (Both of which could be terrifying.) 

I think I'm woefully unprepared for the zombie apocalypse.  We have some food and water stockpiled but other than a few garden tools, we don't have weapons.  Sounds like I need to make a run to the home improvement store! 

As for Mel Gibson, maybe he should be treated like a zombie!  Off with his head! LOL  Seriously, Mel should just stay at home and get some serious therapy!

"What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked? Which have you disliked?"

The one I've like the most is the Harry Potter series.  The movies stayed really true to the books, which is a rarity.  It was really interesting to see the characters from the pages come to life on the screen.  I own all the books and soon will have all the movies!

The one I disliked the most was newer TV movie of "The Shining" by Stephen King.  I loved the book and the orginal movie but the newer version was "blah".

1.  I'm a serial reader.  I have to finish a collection unless it get too outrageous. (Think the Anita Blake series)
2.  I love potatoes in all their many forms!
3.  I'm a serious Coca Cola junkie but I have switched to Coke Zero in  an effort to break the addiction! LOL
4.  I'm a teacher and I hate grading paper!
5.  I'm a book hoarder!  I hate lending out my books because I'm afraid they'll come back damaged.  E-books have made it easier for me to share!

"If you were given the chance to spend one day in a fictional world (from a book), which book would it be from and what would that place be?"

My answer:I would love the world found in the J.D. Robb "Death" series.  It's still earth but totally futuristic.  It's has flying cars, all the best gadgets but the still very human existence of crime and crime fighters.  Even though it's set in the future, the reader can still relate to the story and actually envision the advances featured in the books.

OMG YES!  I like to finish out a series if possible but I'll admit to being disappointed sometimes because other books by some authors didn't live up to the book I fell in love with.   Reading is always a gamble! :)

1.  I just got my new Kindle.  I've been reading ebooks on computer which makes reading in bed really, really hard! 

2.  My TBR pile of ebooks and real books is growing out of control.  There aren't enough hours in the day to read all the books I would love to read!

3.  I would really love to write a paranormal romance but urban fantasy is so hot in my mind right now!

4.  I keep thinking I like romance novels but I'd rather have a lot of mayhem with some romance (or at least hot sex) tossed in the mix! :)

5.  I wish I could go and knock on Charlaine Harris' door and beg for the new Sookie Stackhouse book!  I love True Blood but the books make the story so much better!

Q. How did you come up with your blog name?

For me, reading is a way to let go of the tensions in daily life, a place where I can get lost for a little while and come back refreshed.  This blog is a way for me to let out the tension and find my happy place in the written word (Release) and a way for me to share what I read with someone who is interested (Notes).  There you have it, Release Notes!

I'm Karen the girl.  I am a high school science teacher and devoted auntie.  I am also a graduate student in the last year of my doctoral work.  I don't have any pets and I'm surrounded by a loving hubby who indulges me, a fantastic family and a newbie blogger, at least with books.  I have a personal blog - The Skinny Girl Inside - that follows the tales of my weight loss.  I'm an avid reader with a ton of books I need to catch up on and I want to share that love with everyone!   I hope everyone has a happy Friday!
