Bestseller For A Day- Dollars and Sense: The Definative Guide To Self-Publishing

"Dollars & Sense: The Definitive Guide to Self-publishing Success" is a step-by-step actionable road map to increasing royalties for beginners and seasoned professionals alike. Divided into three sections; Producing a Sales-Friendly, Professional eBook, Establishing & Leveraging Your Social Media Platform, and Selling Smarter, Not Harder, "Dollars & Sense" walks authors through the process of creating then actually selling their eBook.

About Bestseller For A Day

“Making authors dreams come true one promotion at a time.

Each month, for one day, readers, friends, family and peers rally together to drive an ebook up the Amazon Kindle rankings with a goal to pierce the top 100. The aim of the program is to help indie authors get a foothold in the traditionally published dominated market. Authors coordinate with book review sponsors to show readers that the 99 cent promotional price is worth every penny.

As thanks, each author creates give aways for participants and drives traffic to participating review sites. Additionally, readers are offered Bonus Buy reads discounted to 99 cents for the event with that price offered to be rebated back by the participating authors when readers fill out the relevant form.”

All you need to do is buy a copy of Dollars & Sense for 99 cents from Amazon. (Just click the link above!).Then go to the Bestseller For A Day website (bestsellerforaday.com) and sign up for a newsletter and enter your sales confirmation number. Signing up for the newsletter and entering your number enters you into a draw for a Kindle. You can also buy a copy of each of the three bonus buys and get the purchase price refunded.

So, that’s 4 books for 99 cents and a chance to win a kindle!

So what are the Bonus Buys?

30 Pieces of Silver

 A Christian suicide bomber.

John the Baptist's bones inscribed in ancient Greek.

A secret carried from the foot of the crucifixion.

Can science solve the world's greatest mystery?

For anyone who doesn't mind some serious controversy and can't get enough of James Rollins, Dan Brown, Steve Berry, and Brad Thor... "30 Pieces of Silver" is your next thrill fix!

Bio for Carolyn McCray

Carolyn is the Founder of the Indie Book Collective, a group dedicated to helping authors use social media to its fullest potential to sell their books.

The #IBC exploded within 4 months to have over 5,000 members and its work has already been covered in major, national publications.

She has been described as an eBook marketing guru (others’ words not hers), a volcano of Amazon.com eBook knowledge (again, not her words), and the Borg Queen (ok, maybe she coined that one herself).

Each one of her novels have reached bestselling status on Amazon.com and her super controversial thriller, “30 Pieces of Silver” topped (as in #1) the Men’s Adventure category, #3 in the War sub-genre, and #183 overall (out of about1 million books) in the Kindle Top Bestsellers.

Carolyn also has contributed to Digital Book World.com and has been covered by the Huffington Post (Books). Carolyn appeared on a panel with Jane Freidman at SXSW regarding the future of digital publishing and will appear on several panels at the NY Indie Book Event (7/2011).

“Sometimes I think I’m too jaded. But then I think no, it’s just the lighting.”

A Walk In The Snark now a bestseller! It reached Kindle Top 10 status (#3) on the Humor Parenting & Families list, Top 20 on Humor Essays (#11) in April 2011, and #1 on Smashwords Entertainment list in May!

With her trademark snarky humor and candor, Rachel whisks you into her caffeinated world where she deconstructs common phrases (I’m Fine) and makes up words (Refrigeratoritis) in order to help dudes understand chicks…and vice versa.

Rachel believes “Men are from Seinfeld, Women are from Friends,” and so do her legions of fans. She dares to ask “why do men want to change the world but can’t change a roll of toilet paper?”

Drawing on her decades (dear god has it been that long?) of marriage, friendships, and past relationships, Rachel’s specialty is observing male behavior and dissecting it with humor (Shopping is NOT a Verb). Think of her as the Scientist of Snark…without the ugly white labcoat of course. #asif

“Husband: Mumble, mumble, mumble.
11yo: What?
Me: It’s okay. I speak husband.”

But don’t let that witty veneer fool you. Sprinkled throughout these funny essays are some poignant stories of tragedy and loss (The Difficult Kind). This chick will tear at your heart. And then, you know, stitch it back together with humorous aplomb.

Don't take our word for it. The critics are going nuts for it too!

RACHEL THOMPSON BIO

Rachel Thompson (aka RachelintheOC) is the author of the consistently 5/5 star reviewed humorous and at times, poignant, collection of essays, A Walk In The Snark (released 1/2011), which recently hit #3 on the Amazon Humor/Parenting & Families Kindle list (beating out the likes of Jenny McCarthy!), after just a few months of release and has consistently stayed on the Amazon Top Humor Lists.

In May, 2011 A Walk In The Snark hit #1 on Smashwords Entertainment Bestseller list also.

Rachel is also one of the cofounders of the Indie Book Collective, an organization with over 6,000 members which is dedicated to helping authors utilize social media to the fullest to sell their books. The Collective offers free workshops, a live advice radio show, innovative programs such as Blog Tour de Force & Bestseller for a Day, and so much more to its members.

You can find Rachel most days on Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, giving daily tips on the IndieBookIBC Twitter stream, contributing posts to the IBC blog or her own popular blog, giving free social media workshops for writers, promoting her current book or working on her next book, The Mancode: A Survivor’s Tale. She lives in the OC aka Orange County, CA (home of Disneyland). Somewhere in there this redhead in a sea of blondes fits in being a full-time wife and mom to her two young children and just one husband. She loves coffee, dirty martinis, and sleep.

Rachel and the IBC were recently profiled (April 13, 2011) in the Huffington Post Books section regarding social media and ePublishing.

Q. In light of the Summer Solstice. Also known as Midsummer...let's talk about fairies. What is your favorite fairy tale or story that revolves around the fae?

Hands down, it's the "Fever" Series by Karen Marie Moning.  The fae in this story are so complex.  Their not necessarily good or evil, at least in their eyes.  I love the layers and of course, most of beautiful!

Review - Ghosts of Coronado Bay by JG Faherty

Ghosts of Coronado Bay, A Maya Blair Mystery

Author - JG Faherty
Format- Paperback and Ebook

Maya is a teenage girl with a special secret – she can see ghosts. I take that back, not only can she see ghosts; she can also communicate with them. For years, the only ghost she knew was her grandmother, who called Maya a seer. Maya has learned to keep quiet about her gift. She hangs with her best friend, Lucy and tries to deal with her ex, Stuart. Between school and work at the family diner, her life is full and interesting enough.

Everything changes when the 100-year-old shipwreck, the Black Lady is raised from Coronado Bay and Maya meets to Blake, a fair-haired young man she quickly finds attractive and Gavin, a dark, Gothic young man Maya finds equally attractive. Maya soon learns both of the boys are ghosts and that a nefarious plot has been set in motion.

The author has created an engaging story. I was wary because I kept thinking of the show "Ghost Whisperer" but this novel is so far removed from that! Maya is wonderful and her friend Lucy is a loyal and outspoken! To see how Maya and company work to stop the evil plans is wonderful and I kept turning page after page to know what happened next. Even though this is presented as a YA offering, I can easily see all ages enjoying this book. It is a great story and I can’t wait for J.G. Faherty’s next offering of Maya and the gang.

Review - ETA-Estimated Time of Arrest

ETA - Estimated Time of Arrest

Title- ETA-Estimated Time of Arrest
Author - Delphine Pontvieux
Format - Hardcover and EBook

This book was a beautiful exploration of the Basque people and the way good people get involved in situations out of their control. Lorenzo Lartaun Izcoa is wrongly accused of bombing a police station and labeled a terrorist, he leaves his home for Mexico. A childhood friend offers him a way to return home in exchange for a “small favor”. Desperate to return home, he agrees, returning as Rafael and finds himself embroiled in a deeper and more dangerous event than he could ever imagine.

Along the way, he meets and falls in love with Faustine Laroche. Their relationship was portrayed beautifully and it was completely believable. As they get closer, the secrets Rafael are hiding began to burden him. The weight of his friend’s “favor” weighs heavily on his conscience and he torn between his locality and the desire to live as a free man.

The background and setting of the story are well researched and I felt immersed in the different locales. The author did an outstanding job of weaving all the story elements together and created a rich, spellbinding story. I highly recommend this as a great suspense/thriller for anyone who loves the genre.

Review- Malakh by Sharon Gerlach

Malakh

This book was an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end. Suzanne’s former lover was an angel. While she was with him, Suzanne was able to share his supernatural powers. When he leaves her, the powers are gone also. Three years later finds her still mourning the loss and dealing with her suspicion he might now be a serial killer. When another angel comes to her, seeking her assistance in finding him, Suzanne is reluctant but she wants to know in her own heart if it’s true.

The story starts in the middle of the murders and immediately sweeps you along. The author has crafted this story so well. You feel the emotional turmoil of Suzanne and agony she has to go through searching for her ex. The plot twist that comes sneaks up on you, completely unexpected and leaves you feeling like “I should have known this!”

This was wonderful and enjoyable from beginning to end!

Winter Heart by Margaret Frazier

Winter Heart (Sister Frevisse Medieval Mysteries)

Book: Winter Heart (Sister Frevisse Medieval Mysteries)
Author Margaret Frazer
Format - Paperback and Ebook

Winter Heart is the latest offering in the “Sister Frevisse Medieval Mysteries”. We find Sister Frevisse has become Domina Frevisse, prioress of St. Frideswide. She takes her responsibilities to the priory seriously. When a man who disappeared after being accused of a serious crime returns claiming to have been kidnapped, Domina Frevisse finds herself embroiled in the midst of greed, theft and murder.

The story setting is Medieval times and the lack of modern amenities we are used to seeing in mystery solving make the story more engaging. You really get to see the complex thought process and how Domina Freevisse evaluates the entire situation and the logic she uses in order to reach the truth. The story has deep and complex plot that will quickly engages you and has you turning pages to see what happens next.

I really enjoyed this book and I’m interested to read more of the series.

Review: Toonopolis:Gemini By Jeremy Rodden

Toonopolis: Gemini

Book: Toonopolis:Gemini
Author: Jeremy Rodden
Format: Hardcover and E-Book

This book is a wonderful read for all ages. Children can relate the world of Toonopolis and the adults will enjoy the trip into a fantasyland. The author provides a story the engages from beginning to end, providing humor and a look into the life of a toon. While the adults will remember “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”, this story is so much more than that.

The characters are equally engaging. We meet Jacob, whose first encounter in Toonopolis is the talking mirror. From there the cartoon characters are so quirky and engaging! Personally, I think Jimbob, The Talking Eggplant stole the show! There is also Special Agent Mimic, who discovered Toonopolis and started conducting research. I think it’s great that the author used both character’s perspectives to allow the reader to really understand and feel what is going on.

This was a delightful read and one I know I will read again, once my 12-year-old nephew has finished it!

Q. Genre Wars! What's your favorite genre and which book in that genre made it your favorite?

My favorite is Urban Fantasy.  It was the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton that started me on this road.  I was hooked from the first chapter of "Guilty Pleasures"!  Even though I don't read the Anita Blake books any more, I still love urban fantasy!

Q. The magic book fairy pops out of your cereal box and says "you and your favorite character (from a book of course) can switch places!" Who are you going to switch with?

I have to say Damali Richards of the Vampire Huntress Legend  Series by L.A. Banks.  She is strong, can kick ass, is totally passionate about her man and of course, she is out to save the world!  How can you go wrong with that?

Q. What are you doing to prepare for an upcoming zombie apocalypse and/or the return of Mel Gibson to the silver screen? (Both of which could be terrifying.)

I think I'm woefully unprepared for the zombie apocalypse.  We have some food and water stockpiled but other than a few garden tools, we don't have weapons.  Sounds like I need to make a run to the home improvement store!

As for Mel Gibson, maybe he should be treated like a zombie!  Off with his head! LOL  Seriously, Mel should just stay at home and get some serious therapy!
